![]() ![]() Mendeley 0.9.0 seems to be a (quantum:) leap towards a better software for scientific (including "social science") on all platforms. ![]() Pybliography is free and connects with OO and M$Word, but I didnt try. There is a OpenOffice project working on this aim of reference managing but there is no news about it. The problems of this soft are -1- the delay to give support to the latest version of Ubuntu and -2- IS NOT OPEN SOFTWARE and has a PROPIETARY LICENCE The second time I could import few references with abstracts, but I couldnt import my the SQL library with my 500 references neither the Endnote database.Īnother person from my University tried with Mendeley and is quite satisfied with how does it work. The first time I really didn't realize how to use it and I didn go far. I tried twice with zotero (which actually has a OO plugin to insert the references into any. To configure the citation format and the in-text references to make it to do what you want is really difficult. Fortunately I could export my 500 references from endnote 7 to Refer/RIS and then import them into Bibus, but was not easy.Īnyway, every 6 months I upgrade the SO to the last version (vices.), but then I ve to configure Bibus again and this take a little work. But to configure this UNO connection is not so easy and, despite the procedure is well described in the bibus web on sourceforge, you have to repeat that procedure more than one time, restarting the OO and so on. Bibus uses standard sql database format through sqlite or mysql, and connect with OpenOffice (OO) through UNO connection. Up to now I think the reference managers are one of these cases. However some of the software works pretty good and was not replaced at all. Presentations or posters in powerpoint, SigmaPlot files, word files are good examples of this uncompatibility. If someone in your workgroup upgrade the version of any software then the rest of the group cannot open the file saved by the upgrade-obsessive guy (everyone got one.) I migrated from W$ to Ubuntu for many reasons but one the main contribution to my migration is that all software there is not compatible with itself. Out of curiousity, what site are you trying to import from, and what errors, or behaviour, do you see exhibited? If the site you're trying to import from isn't currently listed, drop us a suggestion on our Feedback forum () and we'll do our best into looking into adding support for this site. ![]() This said, we currently only support importing documents from a select number of sites, as per our Import page (). Just as long as Firefox is up to date, and you have Javascript enabled. Our bookmarklet should be working fine with Firefox, regardless of your operating system. Some of us have gotten off the 6 month upgrade treadmill for the sake of better productivity. Mendeley folks if you are reading - _please_ do your best to support LTS releases for the duration. (Mendeley certainly makes keeping PDF's easier, but all I really need is the URI to find it again, not the actual PDF.)Īnyway, I cannot get the bookmarklet to work. Its easier simply to re-search than to keep a bunch of PDF's around. I do almost all of my reference searching and reading online rather than maintaining a PDF collection. This way, your comments should reach us in a more effective manner, and we'll do our best to act upon them acccordingly.Īnyone got the bookmarklet working with Hardy + firefox? This is _the_ killer feature (at least when it supports ISI) because it allows you to inject biblio metadata from the currently visited web page. If you experience further crashes once this update is released or have any other feedback, we do ask that you take a second to forward it to us either via e-mail or on our Uservoice page, both of which are accessible at. ![]() We're constantly working on trying to improve the stability of our software, and in order for us to do this, your feedback is really appreciated and we welcome any and all that you may have. With regards to the errors and crashes that you may be experiencing, I would like to mention that we have plans to release version 0.6.4 very soon, which will feature a number of bug fixes and stabilisation improvements, amongst several other enhancements. A short introduction about me, I work at Mendeley, as a member of their QA and support team, so seeing forum posts like this is always an item of interest to me. ![]()
